Description
It felt like "old times" when I found this 1950 Chevy 2-door Deluxe parked in front of the “Shear Destiny Hair Studio” in Avondale, Colorado. I was amazed that it appeared to be “all original” without signs of any attempts at restoration.
The 2 door Chevy Styleline Deluxe model 2102 was the next best seller for the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors with 248,567 units sold.
The Deluxe was the brand-new upper-end model for Chevrolet. It had full instrumentation. The front suspension had stabilizers.
Many things changed starting in 1950, starting with a wide range of two-tone paint schemes. The other change was the availability of Powerglide, a two-speed automatic transmission, exclusively in the Deluxe.
To dress up the 1950 Chevy Deluxe and Fleetline Deluxe models a stainless side trim and “Deluxe” script was installed on the front fender and front door along with a chrome gravel guard. Other exterior trims found only on the 1950 Chevrolet Deluxe models were stainless windshield and rear window reveal moldings. The moldings outlined the windshield and rear window glass and followed the top curve of the doors and quarter windows on sedans and coupes. In addition, all deluxe models were equipped with fender skirts and some even came with white wall tires.
